The Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) sought innovative traffic management solutions, including the expansion and upgrade of the City’s traffic signal and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) networks. STV was contracted to provide detailed designs and engineering services for the implementation of ITS projects under an on-call agreement.

On an accelerated schedule, STV performed detailed communications design for connecting signal infrastructure and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras to the fiber optic network, including wireless radio connections for remote locations and railroad encroachment agreements for conduit infrastructure construction. These solutions will not only help the city meet its current needs, but also aid in accommodating anticipated growth and expansion of the traffic signal and CCTV systems in the Greater Charlotte area.
