STV Helps NYCSBUS Secure $29.5 Million Grant for Zero Emissions Transition

Grant Will Fund 100 Electric School Buses, 100 Electric Bus Chargers and Electrical Infrastructure Upgrades

New York, NY – STV, a professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, is celebrating the selection of New York City School Bus Umbrella Services (NYCSBUS) to receive $29.5 million through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new Clean School Bus Grant Program. STV played a key role in securing this award for NYCSBUS, providing comprehensive advisory services including project review, application development, schedule management, technical writing and review as well as overall strategy for a strong grant application. With this funding, the agency will purchase 100 electric school buses and 100 electric bus chargers as well as electrical infrastructure upgrades at the Zerega Avenue Depot, marking a significant step towards the agency’s zero emissions transition.

NYCSBUS is among 67 recipients nationwide to share $965 million in funding through EPA’s first Clean School Bus Program Grants Competition. Funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these awards will empower selectees to acquire more than 2,700 clean school buses in 280 school districts, serving more than seven million students across 37 states. The program expedites the transition to low- and zero-emission vehicles, aiming to enhance air quality for children and their families, promote environmental justice, stimulate the economy and create well-paying jobs.

STV’s national zero emissions mobility team provides comprehensive advisory services to support fleet operators in a seamless and cost-effective transition toward clean transportation solutions. The team employs an industry-leading energy modeling tool to guide clients in achieving their sustainability goals. The firm has partnered with transit operators nationwide, such as the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), the North County Transit District (NCTD) and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation. Using its proprietary G.R.A.N.T.S. tool, STV’s infrastructure economics team successfully supported clients nationwide in securing over 12 grants totaling more than $175 million in funding in 2023.
