Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) Building 307 Modernization Design-Build

STV is serving as the lead designer for the modernization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) in Beltsville, MD. The program includes the renovation of approximately 66,000 square feet of floor space in an existing three-story concrete building, which was first constructed in 1939.

To make room for new stairs that have been designed by STV, parts of the facility’s interior, including sections of the floor slab and foundation, will be demolished. To accommodate a new basement area that was designed by the firm, the construction team will remove existing fill and provide a new concrete slab at grade. STV also designed new mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems for the building. The completed facility will feature private and open offices, laboratories, storage rooms, conference rooms, and equipment rooms once complete.
