The American Council of Engineering Companies of Pennsylvania (ACEC/PA) named STV as the 2022 Industrial and Manufacturing Processes and Facilities winner for the completion of the Dräger Manufacturing Facility project, at the organization’s annual Diamond Awards for Engineering Excellence.

“These past two years have been filled with unrelenting challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and STV was able to see these challenges and provide assistance in combating them,” said Leeann Sherman, executive director of ACEC/PA. “Through this project, STV helped millions of Americans amid a very difficult time.”

“This facility needed to be finished in eight weeks, which is basically unheard of in this industry,” said Kevin Bomboy, P.E., LEED AP, STV vice president and engineering director in Douglassville, PA. “STV quickly assembled a multidisciplined team to meet the client’s deadlines. We are honored to have received this recognition from ACEC/PA for delivering this especially meaningful project.”

In the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, German medical equipment manufacturer Dräger selected STV to perform design services that helped transform an unoccupied building into a new manufacturing plant. The facility was created to produce thousands of N95 face masks per day, an essential tool for Americans in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. The facility contains 10,000 square feet of office space, with approximately 36,000 additional square feet to house manufacturing equipment and machines.

STV has provided engineering design and other professional services in Pennsylvania since World War II, most recently providing complete architectural and engineering design services, as well as construction management services for the award-winning V-22 Osprey Factory Conversion Design-Build for Boeing in Ridley Park, PA. The firm boasts long-standing relationships with medical manufacturing clients such as Alcon Pharmaceuticals, Terumo and Secant Medical.
