Charlotte Employees Race for Safe Water

STV employees in our Charlotte office recently laced up their running sneakers for a local 5K race with global ramifications.

The Water for People 5K is a 3.1-mile race that benefits the nonprofit organization that works in nine countries in Latin America, East Africa, and India. The organization’s mission is to promote the development of reliable safe drinking water and sanitation services for everyone. As a result, the event attracts participants from the water and wastewater industry.

STV’s team was led by Charlotte engineering director Xiaolin “Martin” Deng, P.E., (Bib #2560 in photo), who placed 5th overall with a time of 20:22. The “STV Engineers” team was rounded out by Amos Liu (Bib #2630), P.E., vice president and chief engineer, and Dillon Bawayan (Bib #2515), engineering specialist. Kathryn Curry, AICP, a transportation planner, also participated in the race (but under a different team name.)

The event raised $8,000 for the charity.
