Terminal B Redevelopment at LaGuardia Airport

LaGuardia Airport (LGA) has changed significantly since it first opened as a commercial airport in 1939. After recently serving a record number of passengers, officials anticipate that number to continue to grow by 2030, requiring a sweeping, $8 billion construction program to transform the airport into a modern, unified facility with improved ground transportation access, additional taxiways and best-in-class passenger amenities.

STV, as part of a joint venture, served as construction manager for the new $4 billion Terminal B, which included the demolition of outdated structures and the construction of a new replacement terminal, two parking garages, a new service entry substation, elevated roadways, and new and upgraded utilities. An 850,000-square foot, four-story arrivals and departures hall in the new Terminal B opened to the public in June 2020. The 1.3-million-square-foot terminal has two “island” concourses with a total of 35 gates.  Both the eastern and western concourses are connected to the main hall by elevated steel truss pedestrian skybridges. There are active aircraft taxiways under the dual skybridges. The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Terminal B LEED Version 4 Gold certification for sustainability.
