Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project
As Northern California’s Bay Area continues to grow, so does ridership on the Caltrain commuter rail service. The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (JBP) is planning to swap the existing diesel-hauled trains for electric multiple-unit trains on the stretch between the Fourth and King Street Station in San Francisco, CA and the Tamien Station in San Jose, CA. STV is providing systems integration services, communications systems engineering, and grounding and bonding design plans for the Peninsula Corridor Electrification Project section of the $1.7 billion Caltrain Modernization Program. This program will enhance Caltrain safety and efficiency once fully implemented and will also help establish future rail service that will connect the Bay Area with the rest of California.
