Omnitrans Architectural/Engineering Services Task Order

Each year, Omnitrans serves 11 million passengers in Southern California’s San Bernardino Valley. With 34 bus routes, and paratransit service, it is the largest public transit provider in the area, bringing riders to schools, medical centers, and other transportation hubs.

Under a task order contract, STV provided architectural and engineering design for a broad range of projects throughout the Omnitrans system addressing needed upgrades and enhancements for bus stops and shelters, maintenance depots, administrative facilities, and more.

These design tasks included:

  • The replacement of older bus lifts with new piston-style and swing arm lifts for the West Valley Facility in Montclair

  • New compressed natural gas fueling plants at two locations

  • Improvements at 29 bus stops including sidewalk adjustments, passenger boarding areas, and curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards

  • CCTV and board room technology upgrades

  • Facility reroofing

  • Pavement and service island maintenance

  • An enhanced bus shelter, featuring upgraded materials and solar-powered equipment

  • Parking lot security designs

  • Design-build bridging documents for two major photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems to eliminate dependence on utility-based power for CNG compressor plants in preparation for state mandated zero emission bus conversion

STV also provided master planning services to reconfigure the I Street Paratransit Facility including new maintenance bays, a drive-through bus wash, and training and welfare facilities.
