The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech

The Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) arts initiative was a comprehensive, university-wide effort to enhance the presence and practice of the arts at the school. The opening of the $100 million Moss Arts Center was a cornerstone of these efforts, allowing the university to realize its goal of having a top notch facility that nurtures and showcases the arts.

STV served as executive architect, for the 130,000-square-foot complex, which sits at the main entrance to the campus, consists of a fully renovated Shultz Hall and two new building additions totaling 72,550 square feet that house the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre and the Collaborative Performance Lab, known as The Cube. A new courtyard serves as an entrance for all three buildings and an outdoor performance.

As part of this program, the firm providing project management, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, telecommunications, and sustainable design services. Snøhetta was the design architect, and also provided interior and landscape design.
