Lenzen Yard Centralized Equipment Maintenance and Operations Facility

Serving more than 60,000 riders each weekday, the Caltrain commuter rail takes passengers between San Francisco, San Jose, and Gilroy, CA. To help better support the agency’s maintenance needs, STV provided design, as well as construction administration services for the Lenzen Centralized Equipment Maintenance and Operations Facility (CEMOF).

The Lenzen CEMOF is located on a 24-acre site in San Jose. STV provided architectural and engineering design for the commuter facility, which includes shops, storage areas, and employee welfare areas. This 58,000-square-foot structure also features a 25-ton bridge crane, drop table, and wheel truing equipment. Services provided at the facility include equipment inspection, light and running repairs, servicing of diesel locomotives, interior car and locomotive cleaning, toilet servicing and exterior car washing. The yard was designed to accommodate 29 locomotives and 110 coaches.
