Joint Base Cape Cod Wind Turbines

As a way to offset the cost and environmental impact of running groundwater treatment plants at the 22,000-acre Joint Base Cape Cod (formerly Massachusetts Military Reservation) STV was selected by the Air Force Civil Engineer Center to provide a broad range of engineering services for the construction of two 1.5-MW wind turbines at the base. STV performed geotechnical, structural and civil design to support the construction of access roads (for hauling equipment) and tower foundations for both turbines.

The base is one of the largest Superfund sites in New England and the initiative was part of a larger $700 million "green" cleanup project overseen by the Massachusetts National Guard, the base's primary tenant.
