Eagle Commons Dining Hall at Clarion University

STV provided complete design services for a new 31,000-square-foot dining center at Clarion University. The design of the new $12.4 million facility accommodates 530 seats in the main dining room and 100 seats in the lower level conference facility.

The main dining area also serves as a banquet hall, and the back-of-house kitchen supports all campus catering functions. The building, a two-story, steel-framed structure featuring reinforced concrete foundations, masonry walls with brick veneer, insulated glazing and a shingle roof, was awarded LEED® Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The building envelope is designed to minimize the amount of energy required to provide a comfortable interior environment. Light-switch occupant sensors turn out the lights and signal for reduced airflow in unoccupied rooms, and low-flow and dual-flush restroom fixtures reduce water usage by 30 percent.
