For more than 30 years, STV has been providing on-call surveying and engineering services for District 3 of the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA). Under numerous back-to-back, five-year contracts, the firm has prepared and reviewed concepts and final design documents for highway, traffic, structural, and environmental projects.

To date, the firm has completed more than 200 assignments for the district. Assignments have ranged from comprehensive highway and structural design services, including preparing plans, specifications and construction cost estimates, to preparing alternates or feasibility studies for highway corridor or high crash or congested intersections. Over the years, the firm’s design services have included highway geometrics, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater management, as well as landscape architecture, signing and pavement marking, lighting, traffic signalization, traffic analysis, pedestrian and bicycle facility design, and maintenance of traffic.
