The New York State Office of Mental Health is transforming the Bronx Psychiatric Center into a modern 35-acre campus with new treatment facilities and a state-of-the-art Adult Behavioral Healthcare Center. The firm provided civil, geotechnical, environmental, structural, and electrical engineering design services for the campus infrastructure.

Under contract with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), STV designed all site work including stormwater management systems; and utilities, as well as primary electrical power to serve six new buildings. STV’s landscape design provided wayfinding and perimeter screening using sustainable plants. Design also entailed new entrances, roadways, parking lots, and shaded pedestrian pathways. The design incorporated sustainable practices in line with the goal to achieve LEED® certification to the Silver level.The centerpiece of the overall campus redevelopment is the 156-bed Adult Behavioral Health Center. The redevelopment of the campus is also benefiting the surrounding community economically.
