Baltimore Downtown Intermodal Station

Over the span of nearly 15 years, STV supported the planning and design of a new intermodal station owned by Greyhound Lines in Downtown Baltimore.

STV was first brought in to conduct a feasibility study following the expiration of Greyhound’s lease on its original Downtown Baltimore bus station, with no option to renew. Greyhound, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation and the Maryland Department of Transportation Transit Administration tasked STV with a study to determine the best location for the intercity bus service while also maintaining multimodal transportation connectivity. The firm looked at 12 different potential sites.

Once the study was completed, STV performed a range of design services for Greyhound, for both a temporary and then a final intermodal facility. These services included building design, site surveying, landscape architecture, and MEP, structural and civil engineering.

While the new terminal was under construction, STV managed a phasing plan that helped maintain uninterrupted bus service at the temporary facility. Adding to the complexity of maintaining operations during the erection of this facility was the concurrent construction and completion of nearby M&T Bank Stadium and the Horseshoe Casino – both major destinations and traffic generators in Downtown Baltimore.
