A highly experienced market leader who has supported the design and construction of several iconic projects in the United States, Rezaei is a member of STV’s growing national tunneling and geotechnical group, and is providing direction, oversight and management of structural work for underground and tunnel projects from coast to coast.

“Hamid is an expert in structural and tunnel engineering,” said Frank Pepe, Jr., P.E., STV senior vice president and national director for tunneling and geotechnical engineering. “He has managed many impactful, complex projects and is part of a strong, growing team of underground authorities bringing valuable knowledge and skill to our clients.”

Rezaei joins STV from WSP, where he played an instrumental role on such major projects as Metropolitan Transportation Authority Long Island Rail Road’s East Side Access; MTA New York City Transit’s South Ferry Station and Tunnel Rehabilitation; Phases 1 and 2 of MTA Capital Construction Contract’s Second Avenue Subway and Virginia Department of Transportation’s Second Midtown Tunnel, Norfolk and Portsmouth, VA.

Rezaei’s expertise spans all phases of project development, from feasibility studies through final design and into construction. He has diverse experience in the design of structures in soft ground and rock, including bored tunnels, caverns, cut-and-cover tunnels, shafts, retaining walls and temporary support of excavation. Rezaei also has hands-on experience in soil structure interaction numerical modeling, linear and non-linear dynamic analysis and finite element analyses.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Middle East Technical University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Michigan.
