Raoul IlawRaoul Ilaw, P.E., CCM, FCMAA, vice president and senior program manager for STV, a leading provider in program and construction management services, was recently elected to the Construction Management Association’s (CMAA) College of Fellows – one of the industry’s highest honors.

CMAA Fellows are deemed “pioneers” in the construction and project management profession as well as within the association itself. They are individuals who have played a key role in advancing the profession and CMAA. Ilaw was one of only two members to receive the honor this year and one of 70 out of CMAA’s 16,000 members to be elected to the College of Fellows. He was inducted at CMAA’s National Conference in Orlando in September.

“Raoul’s passion and drive for the CMAA and our profession is without peer, and he is extremely worthy of this honor,” said Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, STV chief executive officer and president, and a member of CMAA’s College of Fellows. “He is always looking for new ways to contribute to CMAA and the construction management community. And he is a big believer in paying in forward by mentoring the next generation of talent in our industry.”

“I’ve known Raoul for many years, through CMAA and also as a client,” said Robert Fraga, AIA, chancellor of the CMAA College of Fellows. “Over the course of his career, he’s demonstrated just how dedicated he is to our industry and the CMAA. I’m really happy for my colleague and friend that he earned this honor.”

Ilaw’s service to CMAA goes back more than 30 years when he joined the association’s Metro New York/New Jersey Chapter in 1988. He has held numerous positions in the chapter eventually becoming chapter president from 1996-1998, then serving on CMAA’s national board of directors and its national executive committee from 2003 – 2009.  In 2009 he received a Special Service Award from CMAA. Then, in 2017 Ilaw was named to CMAA’s board of governors of its Construction Manager Certification Institute, an independent administrative body that is responsible for policies and procedures affecting criteria for Certified Construction Manager professional certification. Most recently, he was elected secretary of the board and will be elevated to chairman of the board of governors in 2021.
