Systems Expert Leads the Way for HS Engineering Students

Eric Ebert, a senior associate and senior project manager in STV’s Transportation & Infrastructure Division in Douglassville, has been an ardent supporter and mentor to the next generation of engineers through his participation in the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program at Twin Valley High School in Elverson, PA. The program is growing across the country and is even being accepted as college credit from a number of universities and colleges.
Eric has been involved with PLTW for the past six years. Most recently, he was asked to evaluate the final presentations for Twin Valley’s senior technology/engineering students. With two sons having already completed the curriculum – and now pursuing college degrees in engineering – Eric was happy to help his local school district when they asked him to evaluate final presentations this past school year.
PLTW encourages students to step into the role of an engineer and experience the entire design process from inception to execution. Students are asked to identify a real-world technical problem to solve and then go on to design, build and test a prototype they believe will resolve the issue at hand. The course culminates in a final presentation in which local engineering professionals evaluate the work each team has accomplished.
