Jeffrey Messinger, PE, LEED APJeffrey Messinger, P.E., LEED AP, vice president in STV’s Transportation & Infrastructure Division in New York, has been named 2019 ACE Mentor of the Year for Greater New York. Jeff was unanimously selected from a pool of 14 nominees and received the award at the annual ACE Ball.

The Architecture Construction and Engineering (ACE) program pairs mentors with high school students interested in design and construction careers. Several STV offices participate, and Milo Riverso, Ph.D., P.E., CCM, STV president and chief executive officer, is an executive committee member of the national board of directors and a past chairman of the New York chapter.

Jeff has been involved with ACE for 16 years and is currently a mentorship team captain. He runs meetings for both mentors and mentees along with creating session exercises.

Jeff has also recruited more than a dozen mentors in the New York office from the firm’s architectural, engineering, design, and marketing groups and is known for his dedication to the program. In addition to celebrating his award, Jeff will begin serving on a leadership committee to help guide Greater New York’s ACE Mentorship program.

“We’ve been planning to nominate Jeff since last year,” said Jamie Mallette, senior proposal coordinator in the New York office and an ACE mentor. “He’s very dedicated, and a large part of why mentors and mentees come back. Last year he stayed at least an hour and a half after one meeting and answered student questions about everything from college admissions to retirement. He really goes the extra mile.”

“I want to thank all of the mentors for nominating me,” said Jeff. “I’m so touched that they thought of me for this honor. This program doesn’t happen with just one person, and I really appreciate their dedication and hard work.”

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded in Jeff’s name to an ACE mentee next spring.
