As part of a plan for a comprehensive transit system for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area in North Carolina, the Charlotte Area Transit System decided to build a light rail transit system. The first in the state, the South Corridor Light Rail Transit project provides a modern, environmentally friendly transportation system while stimulating economic growth. As the project management support services consultant, STV served as construction manager and provided engineering and architectural design review services, along with design review of signaling systems, communications systems, traction power, overhead catenary systems and fare collection systems.
