As part of a capital expansion program at O’Hare International Airport, STV provided engineering design services for the demolition and replacement of 46 air handling units (AHUs) in Terminals 2 and 3. This complex project was completed one month ahead of schedule, without interrupting service at one of the country’s busiest airports.

In addition to providing comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering design services for replacing the AHUs, STV’s responsibilities included redesigning the congested equipment room to ensure safe and efficient operation of the new units. The firm developed phased demolition and construction plans, and also provided cost estimating services as part of this endeavor.
