Howard Beach Station
STV provided architectural and engineering design, as well as construction support services, for New York City Transit's (NYC Transit) Howard Beach Station. This station serves the Rockaway Line of the NYC Transit subway system and connects to the Howard Beach Station of the John F. Kennedy International Airport's AirTrain Light Rail System.
The design of the station uses the architectural vocabulary of an airport terminal, such as the extensive use of glass to provide natural light. For passenger comfort, the station is heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. The materials and systems selected for the station reflect life-cycle considerations.
