Grand Central Madison (Formerly East Side Access)
STV has been playing a key role in the $11.2 billion Grand Central Madison project (formerly known as East Side Access), which seeks to ease congestion at New York’s Pennsylvania Station by bringing the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) the nation's busiest commuter rail service, to Grand Central Terminal on Manhattan’s East Side. The LIRR hired STV early in the project to conduct an operational and physical feasibility study as well as a Major Investment Study to enable the project to receive FTA funding. As part of a joint venture, STV is providing tunnel engineering, environmental engineering and other final design services to connect the nation's busiest commuter rail line to the new LIRR terminal below Grand Central, which will be named Grand Central Madison. The new connection will dramatically shorten travel time for Long Island and Queens commuters traveling to the east side of Manhattan.
