Armed Forces Reserve Center

To enhance training and preparedness for servicemen and servicewomen, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) embarked on a program to create new Armed Forces Reserve Centers (AFRCs). The centers feature training and physical fitness, education, recreation, offices, and living areas, in addition to state-of-the-art secure communications networks. The $17 million, 400-member Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC) in Lewisburg, PA, was procured using the design-build delivery method. The firm’s services included architectural and interior design, as well as structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing/fire protection engineering, as well as construction administration.

This fast-tracked project includes a two-story, 73,000-sf training center and a 7,900-sf vehicle maintenance facility and was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. Designed using building information modeling (BIM) software, the facility also meets Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection requirements.
