STV provided design, design review and construction administration services to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the $435 million Ames Modernization Program at the National Centers for Animal Health. Eight full-time site staff members provided owner's representative services for the program of design projects, which include a 100,000-sf Low Containment Large Animal Facility designed by STV. Other projects on the site include a chiller plant, a standby power generator facility and underground power, chilled water, steam, communication and compressed air systems; a wastewater pretreatment plant to heat wastes before discharge to the local sewer; a 535,000-gsf Consolidated Laboratory and a 145,000-gsf BSL-3Ag Large Animal Facility designed by other architects, but design reviewed and construction administered by STV. The firm's services also included detailed schedule review and analysis, leadership in a value engineering workshop, and work as a commissioning agent for all projects.
