StructuralValley Region High School #9 (Van Nuys, CA)
STV provided engineering design, construction documents, and construction support services to the Los Angeles Unified School District for the addition of an 810-student high school on the Robert Fulton College Preparatory School campus. New buildings include a two-story, 62,000-sf classroom building; a 16,666-sf gymnasium; an 8,110-sf library; and a 2,000-sf maintenance building. The scope of work for the $68 million project also included remodeling the campus food services building and adding a new track and soccer field. STV, in collaboration with its design architect, incorporated many sustainable elements into its design, including cool roofing material to reduce heat islands, quality daylighting and dual mode direct/indirect lighting systems for the classrooms, superior energy performance HVAC system, operable windows for natural ventilation, waterless urinals to reduce potable water usage and drought tolerant plantings/landscaping.
