STV provided complete design services for a new 31,000-sf dining center at Clarion University. The design of the new $12.4 million facility accommodates 530 seats in the main dining room and 100 seats in the lower level conference facility. The main dining area also serves as a banquet hall, and the back-of-house kitchen supports all campus catering functions. There is also a Starbucks coffee cafe. The university is pursuing LEED Silver certification for the building, a two-story, steel-framed structure featuring reinforced concrete foundations, masonry walls with brick veneer. insulated glazing and a shingle roof. An energy recovery system helps recycle heat from cooking.
