John F. Limehouse Bridge Replacement (Charleston County, SC)
Built in 1958, the John F. Limehouse Bridge was beginning to show signs of wear. The South Carolina Department of Transportation contracted STV/RWA to replace the existing movable swing-span bridge, which carries county road S-20 over the Stono River. The firm’s planning and engineering design services included surveying, environmental, public involvement, permitting, vessel impact design, geotechnical engineering, traffic analyses, traffic control, and hydrological services. The new 2,800-foot-long, high-level fixed-span bridge connects the mainland to Johns Island.
STV/RWA received an Honors Award for Engineering Excellence by The American Council of Engineering Companies for this project.
