StructuralAircraft Acoustical Enclosure (Hush House), Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base (Fort Worth, TX)
STV site-adapted the standard Navy aircraft acoustical enclosure design to allow both in-frame and out-of-frame testing of turbofan/turbojet engines. Modifications to the standard design and geotechnical investigations were required to complete the site-adapt design. Considerable work was also required to accommodate the necessary floor embedments for the combined in-frame and out-of-frame testing, the nose wheel elevator, and the embedments for the tiedown pull test equipment. STV performed additional studies to predict exhaust plume dispersion and its effects on nearby helicopter operations and control tower sight-shadowing of runways and taxiways. Though utilities were located nearby, the firm had to devise a complete distribution system to support the test facility complex.
