The Birmingham vicinity has experienced phenomenal growth, along with unique transportation planning challenges. STV analyzed five transportation corridors in the Birmingham metropolitan area and various modes of transportation, including light rail transit, bus rapid transit and local bus service. After conducting a corridor-by-corridor analysis, the firm identified the two or three corridors that had the highest potential for enhancement. STV was responsible for project management, transportation planning, operations and maintenance cost estimates, conceptual engineering and New Starts evaluation. It also oversaw public outreach, agency coordination and subconsultant management.
