O'Hare International Airport Air Handling Units Replacement (Chicago, IL)
As part of a capital expansion program at O’Hare International Airport, STV provided engineering design services for the demolition and replacement of 46 air handling units (AHUs) in Terminals 2 and 3. This complex project was completed one month ahead of schedule, without interrupting service at the country’s busiest airport. STV’s responsibilities for the project included providing engineering design services for replacing the outdated equipment and redesigning the congested equipment room to ensure safe and efficient operation of the new AHUs. The firm provided comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering design services for the AHU replacement project. Work under this task included phased demolition plans, phased construction plans and cost estimating for the installation of new AHUs with new return/exhaust fans, and associated electrical systems.
