When voters in Phoenix approved an increase in their sales tax to fund expanded public transit, one of the first major items promised was a five-route Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. STV, in joint venture, provided planning, design engineering and program management for the $50 million BRT program, which promotes faster travel through exclusive busways and HOV lanes. Customers board luxury buses with custom interiors at specially designed park and ride lots or at stylish BRT stations. In 2003, STV won a Silver Award from the New York Association of Consulting Engineers for this project.
