Reconstruction of Route 9A

STV, in joint venture, provided construction management services to the New York State Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of Route 9A, a major artery into Lower Manhattan. Badly damaged by the 9/11 attacks, it reopened in 2002 with two fewer traffic lanes and a temporary pedestrian crossing to Battery Park City. The reconstruction project enhanced Lower Manhattan by restoring the highway's traffic capacity and improving pedestrian circulation throughout the area.

STV's construction management team provided construction coordination, staging and schedule strategies to allow concurrent work on the 9A project and on each of the other high-profile projects within the Route 9A work zone, including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. STV's efforts ensured that essential utilities were constructed and construction access was maintained within shared work zones.
